Scitech Exhibition Co-Design

Scitech

CASE STUDY //
Co-design Facilitation

Operating WA’s leading interactive science exhibition centre along with travelling science shows, professional learning offerings and more, Scitech’s mission is to inspire our state to solve problems through STEM. In the early planning stages of a new exhibition at their Discovery Centre, Scitech approached us to guide a co-design workshop that would enable their customers to be part of the process of creating the new exhibition.

As we worked with the Scitech team to develop custom content and materials for the day, they invited a selection of the families who would eventually see and interact with the exhibition to be part of the codesign process. We filled a room with 30 science enthusiasts, from grandparents down to grandchildren, who all participated in a series of activities to help the Scitech team understand what their customer wanted to see in the exhibition. Teams of participants were invited to build physical models of the exhibition space, and to tell the story of what visitors might experience.

As part of Scitech’s renewed focus on putting their customers at the centre of their design processes, this codesign workshop enabled the team to get a rich understanding of what children and parents wanted from a new exhibition, as well as generating plenty of concrete exhibit ideas that the team built on to produce a world-class exhibition. The ‘Earth Matters: Rethink the Future’ exhibition is now open for you to explore at Scitech’s Discovery Centre.
