CASE STUDY //
Capability Building

Operating WA’s leading interactive science exhibition centre along with travelling science shows, professional learning offerings and more, Scitech’s mission is to inspire our state to solve problems through STEM. Over several years, they’ve been on a journey to embed human-centred design processes in the way they develop their exhibitions and content, supporting their award-winning design teams to put the customer at the centre of what they do.

To support Scitech on this journey, we’ve been engaged in a series of capability building functions. In collaboration with design leaders at Scitech, we developed a custom Design Playbook tailored from the well-known ‘double diamond’, capturing Scitech’s unique approach to design and innovation. And to accelerate the uptake of the Playbook approach, we delivered a series of workshops with Scitech staff to help them understand how the design process applied to their work and could help them to develop creative, customer-centric solutions.

Scitech have made great strides in their design and innovation journey, with customer empathy work, rapid prototyping, and iterative testing cycles fast becoming common practice across the organisation. Building the design capacity of their teams has put Scitech in a great position to excel in their role as leaders in STEM and education in WA, inspiring others to stay curious and to look for innovative solutions to our biggest challenges.
